Gary Williams - Instructor/Owner

Since 2001 I've been assisting others with their development of life skills, self-esteem, and confidence. I've made it my mission to ensure they are able to help themselves in any situation.

Gary Williams has more than 22 combined years of formal training and experience in all phases of military and law enforcement training. Williams is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in F.I.R.E. MMA, and has numerous professional certifications to include: Kansas Certified Law Enforcement Officer, Kansas Concealed Carry Instructor, U.S. Air Force Combat Arms Training & Maintenance, NRA Pistol, Rifle, Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor, Range Safety Officer, and Refuse to Be a Victim Instructor, Aircrew Combat Tactics instructor, Simunitions instructor, Patrol Response to Active Shooter instructor, Mixed Martial Arts instructor, Certified Personal Trainer, Glock Certified Armorer, Taser instructor, Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT) Instructor, Instructor in Nonlethal Individual Weapons, Certified Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), and Master Gun Instructor under Hock Hochheim. Additionally, Gary has trained Ugandan security contractors, and Iraqi military members in firearms and hand to hand combat techniques.

Mr. Williams is currently a full time police officer, and traditional guardsman. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

 

 

 

Frank Heiman - Instructor/Owner

Frank has a 1st Degree Black Belt in F.I.R.E. MMA, and has been with F.I.R.E. Defensive Skills since early 2004 and as an instructor since 2006.  He teaches in all aspects of the F.I.R.E. Defensive Skills curriculum.
 
Frank has 22 years combined military and civilian police experience and is employed by the 190th ARW/SFS as the NCOIC of the Combat Arms Training and Maintenance section and as the Unit Deployment Manager.  Mr. Heiman is also a PT police officer.
 
Frank Holds many professional, and instructor certificates, including: Kansas Certified Law Enforcement Officer, Kansas Concealed Carry Instructor, NRA Pistol, Rifle, & Personal Protection Inside the Home instructor, Aircrew Combat Tactics instructor, PPCT and PCR instructor. 

Mr. Heiman is also a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom.  

Jon Heiman - Instructor

Jon has a 1st Degree Black Belt in F.I.R.E. MMA, and is also is a submission grappling practitioner.  Jon is an Eastern and Western Kickboxing enthusiast.  He has competed in numerous martial arts competitions, Bad Boy Challenge Boxing, and MMA fights.
 
Jon is our Kickboxing specialist, and he holds a State of Kansas seconds license, instructs MMA, Women's Self Defense, and in the past has worked for USD 434, teaching children martial arts in the Fast Lane after school program.

Kevin McDowell - Martial Arts Instructor

Kevin currently holds a brown belt in F.I.R.E. MMA, and is also an active amateur MMA Fighter, holding the Busted Knuckles 145lb Championship title.  Kevin is an assistant instructor in F.I.R.E. Combatives. 


Kevin also holds a State of Kansas seconds license, and is an enthusiastic coach and corner man.  Whether the fight is standing, or on the ground, Kevin feels right at home.  

Will Barngrover - Martial Arts Instructor

Will currently holds a black belts in Kajukenbo, Arnis/Escrima, and F.I.R.E. Modern Self Defense.  Additionally, Will is currently studying for his black belt in a form of shotokan karate.  Mr. Barngrover also has over 84 hrs of seminar study under Mr. Hoch Hochheim, and approximately 24 hrs of seminar study under Mr. John Petrone.  Along with passion for martial arts, Will also has a background in firearms, holding current certifications as an NRA Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun Instructor, and Range Safety Officer.  Will has eleven plus years volunteer service to the Kansas Hunter Safety program mostly on the rifle range and mobile pellet gun range.

Joshua Holloman - Firearms Instructor

Joshua Holloman has a combined 15 years in the military and started his career as a tank turret repairman and small arms mechanic for the U.S. Army.  He taught machine gun and grenade launcher marksmanship, land navigation, and was a permanent member of his battalion’s Opposing Force.    He has 3 ½ yrs experience in detention facilities for KDOC and Butler Country Sheriff’s Department.  Currently he is a member of the 190th Security Forces Squadron.  Joshua is a Kansas Concealed Carry Instructor, U.S. Air Force Combat Arms Training & Maintenance instructor, Simunitions instructor, Patrol Response to Active Shooter instructor, NRA Pistol & Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor, and Military ATV Operations instructor.  He is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Joshua has developed a real love of training over the course of the last few years and attends shooting and tactics schools when ever work allows.
